I was wondering if you could supply sha512 sums for ISO's on cdimage.ubuntu.com as sha512 is more secure than sha256

You are only checking the file is complete and consistent. There is no "security" here. If the file matches its hash then it has transmitted to you without error.

You can bypass this need entirely if you use torrents. The protocol adds a lot of data checks and sha256 checks aren't required.
