Problems to Know what is the password of the root

I have intalled ubuntu in my computer and I have tried to intall emule and plug-ins of Java in the browser as well but if i want to install it I need to open ubunto like root but I write in the console of Linux "su" and it asked me a password I wrote the password but the password I write when I installed ubuntu doesn't work like root and i don't know what is the password of the root when I installed ubuntu it didn't ask me.

Your "root" password is actually the user password you set for yourself at time of login. You only set one password at time of the login, for the main user (presumably yourself). This is the password that you are prompted for everytime. Enter this.

This is also the password you use for the "sudo" command.
