When I use ubuntu it doesnt shows the option of wireless networks. But the same ubuntu shows wireless network by itself on some lap e. g acer and lenovo.
How can I overcome this problem.
From somewhere I came to about ndiswrapper then I installed this also. But even after this also it is not working.

Hi,

Please first connect your network card to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).

In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:

Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications->Accessories->
Terminal"

Step 2: Run the following commands (copy-paste each line below to the Terminal then hit <enter> after each line)

sudo aptitude install hwinfo
hwinfo --netcard
sudo iwlist scanning
sudo lshw -C network
lspci -nn
lsusb
uname -a
dmesg | grep ound
dmesg | grep witch
iwconfig

Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output from each command) on this thread

Regards,

Mark

I had a similar problem, i think it's bug. Ubuntu didn't show the wireless connections although it detected the wireless card. I plugged in my mobile broad band modem, Ubuntu detected it and refreshed the network options, including the wireless networks. From then on it worked almost out of the box. I say almost because if i do a system suspension, when it wakes up, i have no more wireless or mobile broad band, i have to reboot.

Can you help with this problem?
