Reinstall all packages

Asked by Jon Charge

I wiped /var/log

I want to fix the structure (cause directories and files that should be there, to be made) of /var/log and I came up with a solution.

If I select all the installed packages in synaptic for re-installation, it should fix the issue, yes?

Is there a terminal command that will do the same reinstall of all packages?

Thanks for your help,
Jon

Errr, take care or you migth start installing all the packages in all the repositories! How about trying to reboot, use the "Recovery Mode" option on the boot menu and run "clear some space" and then "Repair broken packages"? Worth a try?

Hope this helps
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Brilliant, nicely done! Thanks for getting back to us with a simple and 'obvious' answer lol. I'd never have thought of that so thanks for that one! Hopefully that will help someone in the future and also make me think of this style of answer in the future too!

Thanks, regards and congrats from
Tom :)
