arduino serial port output to text files on ubuntu

Hi I am working on my school project but I need an app works like "Teraterm"(works on windows deives) that I can read arduino's serial port output and save it as a text files. But I just can't find anything on the internet. Hope someone can give me some ansawers to my problem.
