ubuntu 7.04 - I cannot open the cd /dvd disk driver

Asked by arenberg

Dear

I installed Ubuntu as new comer on a dual boot machine and activate all functions progressively.
I noticed I cannot open the cd/dvd drisk driver, neither by pushing the button on the dislkdriver itself nor by an application (i do not know which application could open it)

Only way to open is to reboot and use the bios f3-key!.
Thanks for any suggestion

Arenberg

Hello

In fact the problem arises when there is no disk in the drive.
a) the button on the drive itself doesno work (it work also randomly on windows)
b) if there is a disk inside the drive, I can eject as you suggest with the right click and the with the terminal mode eject command
C) when there is no disk in I can opne with the terminzl mode
d) I improved with the alittle command on the desktop (launcher) that coresponds to "eject"

Thanks for your useful advice

I suppose that if it work also randomly on windows it may be a hardware problem (a false contact on the button or something like that)
At least now you can eject the drive without rebooting :)

Can you help with this problem?
