I'm not sure, if a program exists in Ubuntu. But I found a lot of programs in the Internet. Unfortunately most of them are written in German.

One of these pages is http://avi-dvd-burner.softonic.de/ (click the download button).

Use the net and I'm sure you'll find a program.

Hope it helps.

Try the package/program "avidemux". You can convert to/from arbitrary formats, and it has presets for DVD, VCD, DV, etc.
It would also help to install the general supporting packages ffmpeg, mencoder, mjpegtools, and transcode.

If avidemux is not to your liking, you can try kino, or complete video editing tools such as kdenlive, pitivi, or cinelerra-cv. All except the latter are installable using the standard Ubuntu software manager.

@peter: umh, avi-dvd-burner appears to be a Windoze program... ;-)

There are a number of programs that will do that under linux. I have found devede to be by far the easiest to use. To install sudo apt-get install devede
if using 8.10, otherwise you will have to download from rastersoft and compile.

Can you help with this problem?
