Ubuntu 17.10 is not yet ready for common use. It is a version in development for publication in October 2017.

You need a certain ability to identify the cause of problems that you see in such development version by yourself, to create bug reports for the developers. If you cannot do that please install an Ubuntu version which is in its regular support period, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases
I recommend Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with support until April 2021

I suggest you report a bug. Artful isn't ready and isn't even remotely stable or ready for normal use.

I suggest installing AirDroid on your Android phone.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid

That should solve this issue.

Thank you for your answers, I am aware of the stability of the version I am
using and have always used the latest versions even on other distros,
Airdroid could be an option, but it's the USB and bug I was interested in
sharing. So I'll try to send an as accurate as I can bug report.
Good day and thanks again.
