Right Click on System Select Edit Menus Navigate to System > Preferences > Removable Drives and Media and make sure box is ticked.

and if you arent using nvidia or ati proprietary drivers (or even ndiswrapper for wireless) that message comes

and its normal... No reason to worry about

Hello Mr Bhavani,
I tried as per your advise. But Right click to System>Edit menu>Preferences>  Then,There is NO Removable Drives and Media is seen anywhere! So I can not 'tick' there! I can not find " Removable media ".How to bring back Removable.....?
I do not have any graphic cards.Only on-board graphics. But in Win xp partition, as you know, there are several regular drivers which are usual.Even Ubuntu copied my Dhcp enabled internet connection automatically.I do not have to connect to net manually. As I told earlier,Ubuntu says 'There are no proprietary drivers on use in this computer'. How?

Hello Anis,
I don't have Removable Media even in 'Places' also.In 'Places' I have home folder, documents, music and disc partitions  and
CD-RW/DVD+RW Drive is shown. But I can not right click or click it.In 'Places>Computer, all the partitions are shown including cd drive. But even there if I double click the icon [cd drive] the pop-up says"unable to mount location"
Actually ,in Removable Media I want to enable auto-run.

Ubuntu 8.10
left click Places, select 'Computer' menu item - the 'Computer - File Browser' window will open, left click on 'Edit' menu item, select 'Preferences' and the 'File Management Preferences' window will open. Left click on the 'Media' tab and there you can enable or disable autorun or autoplay for all types of CDs or DVDs. I had a hard time figuring out how to do that.
