Input reset and Flickering

Asked by Proc

Hi, I've the effect of flickering and input reset. For example I'm pressing FN+F5 to lower the brightness. This has an immediate effect, but the dialog showing the current brightness is coming up a little bit later. If I hold the button, the dialog is to "slow" and the brightness is reset to the start.

I've also written a complete description of my problem here: https://askubuntu.com/q/921840/696366

Kubuntu,
KDE Plasma: 5.8.6

You are using the open source driver. Does the proprietary driver make it work OK?

For the AMD-Machine the AMD driver just creates a big black-screen, I can only use the ALT-F1 console then.
The Nvidia-Laptop has a complete other problem, using the NVIDIA card driver enhances the performance but also leads to freezes after some minutes of video, every time you force-restart the machine it'll freeze even sooner. So they're no option.
