sound bar icon keeps flashing

Asked by George Rj

Using Ubuntu 17.04 - the ONLY problem I'm having is a VERY VERRY annoying flashing sound (volume) bar icon on the top right corner of the screen. My system is set to 'Line Out, Built-In Audio' and I have no problems with the sound quality. I've tried turning the volume icon off under 'settings' which does removes the actual icon but the flashing bar is still there. Did I say thats it's very, verry annoying? Help please.

Press your print screen button and you can then make screenshots. Save the file then use a web hosting page like Imageshack or Dropbox to make a URL of the image. Paste that as an update please

Perfect. That really cleans up the issue. Do you have a shortcut key or media keys for volume? If so, press them each a couple of times. Volume Up, Volume Down and Mute.

Make sure the key comes all the way back up.

I'm not using a laptop, I have a desktop with standard / basic wireless keyboard (no volume keys). I have tried all possible key combinations in case they activated volume controls but no luck there. Still flashing, any more ideas. I do appreciate your assistance.
