Not really, the easiest way would be to reinstall ubuntu from scratch.

Using an Intrepid Cd go thorugh the install but choose "Manual Partitioning" instead of "Guided" make sure the Ubuntu partition has it's "Mount Point" set to "/" which is the 'root of the linux file-system' - also and most crucially make sure that each partition is UNticked in the column "Format Partition?". This should keep all your data and setting (and high scores, hopefully). However, i would always save all your "/home" folder to an external drive or dvd's or even just put it on a new partition because this has a high chance of going wrong in which case you'll lose your data. Backing up is good to do every now and then anyway so now is a good time ;)

Regards and good luck from
Tom :)

Can I use this as an opportunity to ask if anybody has tried jaunty yet? How stable is it?

I use jaunty from the pre alpha stage on 3 pc and it is unstable but i can use it... today..., tomorrow or in the future i'm ready to get some issue but i'm aware of this and i use it to send bugs... so all i can do is only send bugs or/and wait.

So you can use it but sometimes you must have some kind of skill to dress the incoming issue.

Hope this helps.

Jaunty is progressing fast. I wouldn't recommend it to a linux noob but noobs turn into experienced savvy people quite fast. Sticking with Jaunty seems like the best and easiest plan. A lot of development work is going into it and the more bug-reports the better, especially from people that are new to linux - we can easily re-file any bug-reports from bug-squad to the answer forums so let rip and help make Jaunty stronger for it :)

Good luck and deep regards to all alpha and beta testers from
Tom :)
