This is quite normal in a unstable release: Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty unstable is now in alpha6 stage

http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/jaunty/alpha6

So please simply keep it updated upgraded every days o more than once a day. Please also put the System→Administration→Software Sources [Ubuntu Software] to use the main server.

Feel free to report a bug from here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/miro

Hope this helps

Jaunty is in alpha so the developers have probably not got around to changing the dependency list for miro.
So the version that miro looks for isnt in the repository.
If you wait and try again in a few weeks you shouldnt have a problem.

Hope that helps

Well did you change the source address for your third party packages. You most likely have to change "intrepid" to "jaunty" in the source deb address.

Most third party sources eg wine etc dont have repos until the ubuntu version is released.

Well, many have ppa's for jaunty already.

https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/ppa

that one even has miro, but I didn't check it out myself.

Well, as I said. You can try to hunt down some ppa's. Try the link above or search here:

You can simply use the System → Administration → Update manager and press always the "Verify" button.

Or using terminal you can type:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

then the next time you want check if there are upgrades you can recall this row from the history (with the upper row key) and press enter.

Then you might also type the:

sudo apt-get clean

to clean already installed packages from the cache.

Hope this helps

A ppa is a personal package archive. Its like a mini repository for developers to keep their applications up to date or to have them easily accessible to people using ubuntu.
