latest songbird problem

Hi
having downloaded ssssSongbird 1.1.1 from email message. I pressed "extract here" and wonder where do i go from here because when I restart system it still shows that I still have 0.61 version?
thanks for your help. relatively new to Linux/

Are you running intrepid or hardy?
The easiest thing to do is get the debian package from here:
http://www.getdeb.net/app/Songbird

 The intrepid package should still work. The only dependency is Firefox.
