ok very new to linux anything so were is the 24bit or 32bit color setting found

This setting can be found in /etc/X11/xorg.conf ; it can be modified by invoking `dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg` in a Root Terminal, as the very last dialog after setting the desired WxH.

For reference, as per dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg:

So-called "32-bit color" is actually 24 bits of color information plus 8 bits of alpha channel or simple zero padding; the X Window System can handle both. If you want either, select 24 bits.
