hp scanner driver for linux ubuntu

Non riesco a far funzionare il mio scanner con ubuntu. Si tratta di un HP scanjet 4470c che il sistema non riconosce automaticamente. E' collegato ad una porta usb, ed è dotato di un supporto XPA per l'acquisizione di negativi e diapositive

My scanner is not working under ubuntu. It is a HP scanjet 4470c, and the operating system does not automatically install its driver. It is plugged to a usb port, and it includes an XPA support for scanning slides and negative films

Did you try configuring it with the hplib-toolbox?

Ho risolto il problema senza usare hplib, ma seguendo le indicazioni della guida ubuntu.

ho aperto la finestra del terminale e ho digitato questo comando:

sudo apt-get install libsane-extras

il sistema operativo ha automaticamente trovato il driver adatto e lo ha installato. Infatti, subito dopo aver riavviato il pc, ho eseguito il programma XSane e fatto una prova con esito positivo.

I solved this problem on my own without using the hplip-toolbox. Following the instructions of Ubuntu's guide, I opened the Terminal window and then I typed this command:

sudo apt-get install libsane-extras

The operating system automatically found the right driver and installed it. Then I reboot my pc, I run the program XSane and my scanner started working right.

I tried the above per ( davide 2007-05-10) to no avail I guess I'll have to wait till HP gets around to a driver for this scanner.

Try to use the hplib-toolbox and then type this command line in the Terminal window:

sudo apt-get install libsane-extras

On my pc this command made my scanner work. As I wrote, the program XSane recognized it.

Hi @all,

i have an hp scanjet photosmart 5530. Has anybody solved the driver problem?
XSane does not find the driver and the configuration with the hplin-toolbox wasn't successfull.

I am running Hardy on a Dell Latitude D630.
