Installing autorun patch

Asked by drskartik

I am trying to run the autorun patch folllowing the steps in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/autorun.
I am getting stuck in the step ./configure --prefix=/usr

kartik@kartik-laptop:~/gnome-volume-manager-2.17.0$ ./configure --prefix=/kartik
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

I get the above message, i have replaced usr with my computers name.
How to go about it?

/usr literally refers to the "/usr" path, it's not supposed to be substituted with a username.

I just ran the patch on my hardy and can confirm that this is indeed the case.

Is the autorun patch something to do with running Windows programs in Ubuntu? If so do you need to have "Wine" already installed? (Wine Is Not an Emulator - it uses a radically different and much faster approach btu does help run Windows programs). Personally i've always been lucky enough to find a native linux program and they've always run better than the Windows program which i used to swear-by ;)

Can you help with this problem?
