How do I restore not crashed Firefox bookmarks - not the whole profile?

Asked by oss_test_launchpad

I have backup data from a crashed Ubuntu system. Firefox worked ok even when the system was crashed, so I suppose my very latest bookmarks file is ok.

I am now setting up a new Ubuntu system. How do I get the Firefox on the new system to work with the old bookmarks?

There are hundreds of pages on the internet that deal with restoring Firefox bookmarks but most of them seem to deal either with restoring Firefox bookmarks on an MS Windows system or they deal with restoring some old backup file from the profile while the latest bookmarks file is crashed.

My profile is rather crappy, so I just want to restore all bookmarks, not the whole profile.

You can replace the bookmarks.html file in your profile folder in ~/.mozilla/firefox
