Open or convert a .smsbackup

I'm wondering if there is anyway I can open or convert an Asus messaging .smsbackup binary file? I'm not able to open this file thru the messaging app, I no longer have the Asus phone. I tried changing the .smsbackup format to .XML but it doesn't seem to work it just asks me too select an encoding text and when I open thru web browser it says the file type is not supported. I know that .smsbackup file is open and created by Asus messaging app but is there anyway I can open these filed on my PC?
