Installation help

Asked by indijay

Hello,

I have HP machine with 250GB HDD partitioned into 2 partitions. I am planning to add one hold 40GB HDD in parallel to install Ubuntu on.

Now the story is, at the time of installation, it asks which partition to install on. I haven't started installation yet but wondered if there is specific way that it will show my parallel 40GB HDD to select installation on?
Does it happen that it doesn't detect such parallel HDDs?

The only reason why I am asking it before trying because I don't know how to abort installation at this stage and if I will be offered a button to abort installtion and other thing is, I have lot of important stuff on this 250GB HDD which I can't take back up of on another HDD, so don't want to play around with it.

Any comments are appreciated.

Hello,

When your are at the partition section in installing ubuntu just choose manually edit partition table and create new partition, you can choose there the size of that partition. And do not forget to make a swap space because in Linux you need it, it is like virtual memory in windows. It boosts up your computer.

Hope this helps
