my wireless internet

Asked by austin8705

First of all I want to thank everyone for helping me and answering my last question. Now I'm confused though. I was able to connect to the Internet by clicking on the Internet icon at the top right of my screen and then selecting Auto Mobile Broadband (CDMA) Connection. So my question is how is that possible if I don't have the software for my wireless internet card installed and is the connection through verizon wireless which is who I bought the receiver from and pay monthly for wireless internet? And if you didn't read my last question it was about how to install the software but I found out that I couldn't install it because the software for my wireless internet is for windows and not ubuntu. So again the question is if the signal I'm picking up with the receiver and connecting to the internet still through verizon and am I paying for it even though I dont have the software for the receiver installed.

As for paying: you should know if you are paying a monthly to verizon or not. :)
Did you give them your credit card number?

Since wlan0 says "No scan results", this looks like you are not using any wireless currently. If you still need help, please post the output of

lshw -C network

Thanks!
