Does the system have a make and model?
How did you install Wayland?

Did you get asked if you wanted to use GDM or LightDM as part of the installation? Which did you choose (if you did)

OK then boot to root recovery mode and run:
mount -o remount,rw /

(note there is a space between rw and /)

Then run:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm

If you have GDM installed you can now see an interface and you can switch to LightDM.

You can then reboot by running:

reboot

If you press at the same time the keys ctrl + alt + F1 (or F2, F3, F4... all of them but F7) can you see a prompt asking your for a login? It will look like this:

(Your Computer name) login:

And will have a flashing underscore. You can enter your username and your password there, then try what #6 was suggesting.

Hi,

Please try again but with:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
