Installation Problem with ubuntu 8.10

Asked by BlackTigerCub

I Downloaded Ubuntu 8.10 (386i).
Completed winMd5sum verification. Burnt the installation CD.

Loaded the CD and chose the second option of INSTALL INSIDE WINDOWS.

Now, when I try to install Ubuntu inside Windows Vista Home Premium, the installation program starts and extracts all the files (699mb).

As soon as extraction is finished, a message appears - 'CANNOT ACCESS CD. CHECK IF IT IS BEING USED BY SOME OTHER PROGRAM'. Gives me the option of Retry or Cancel.

Repeated Retry ends the same way.

Removed CD and tried installing several times, but no success.

ALSO DOWNLOADED UBUNTU 8.10 64 BIT AND TRIED. BUT, SAME RESULT.

Please Help.

My Laptop Config:
Vaio FW 290, 64-bit Operating System
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 duo CPU P8600
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

Hello BlackTigerCub,

sorry to hear wubi didnt work for you. you can still shrink your windows partition and install ubuntu on the empty space. follow this detailed guide here:
