BIOS for Dell System ID 0x00BA

Asked by Photon500

I have an old Dell Dimension desktop which came with Windows over which I have installed Ubuntu 8.10. I am having a problem with the monitor and want to upgrade the BIOS. Looking on Dell's Linux wiki, I have the process to upgrade the BIOS. But version for the exact System ID is not listed. My System ID is: 0x00BA. The Dell support person directed me to the Ubuntu web site. Can anyone help me identify the correct BIOS version?

Thank you.

Could you please provide the exact product name for your dell dimension and your dell service-tag (identifies your dell product)
Which bios-version do you have at the moment?

Thanks, Bernd. This is good stuff.

My problem is that they store BIOS updates by System ID. My System ID is not present in the list. I am looking for a way to identify the correct BIOS upgrade. Dell support refuses to help - they refer me here.
