How to open .rar file in Ubuntu? Parag Shah

I have received in one attachment seven documents in one email as .rar file. Can some one help how to open them in Ubuntu?

You can install the package "unrar" or "unrar-free", giving you a command line tool to unpack RAR archives. I have never tried it, but the graphical file browsers from Gnome and KDE may even be able to open RAR archives with the help of these packages. But other people may know more.

As Abel was saying you need to install "unrar" package.

sudo apt-get install unrar

 Once you have installed this package your archive-manager supports rar packages

i tried to type the code you have given in terminal sudo apt-get install unrar
but after that it asked for my password which i cannot type
it shows
[sudo] password for abhishek:
after this i cannot type anything please help
