libx11 -dev dependency problem

Asked by hypermind

I want to install xspim, but I found X11/blah~ : No such file or dir.
And I google for it, and found What I need is flex, bison, and libx11-dev, but problem occurs.
libx11-dev:
Depends: libx11-6 (= 2:1.1.5-2ubuntu1) but 2:1.1.5-2ubuntu1.1 is to be installed
Depends: x11proto-input-dev but it is not going to be installed
What are these problems?
For the first one, I think it is bug for Ubuntu or the package it provides. For the second, and stranger one, when I get for x11proto-input-dev, it needs some other package, and others finally depend back on either libx11-dev or x11proto-input-dev.
What's going on?

Check your /etc/apt/sources.list file to ensure that you don't have conflicting sources (ie old entries from hardy when you're now using intrepid).

Oh~ Since I have just installed Ubuntu on PC, I think the problem is similar to the sources instead of conflicting issue. Then I found that why it does like that without updated, so I check the synaptic manager. What I done is just select the Recommanded Update, and I could install the libx11-dev well.
Thank you for your hints, Andy Ruddock.
