installation of ubuntu 8.10 and booting after installation

Asked by harshavardhan

I am new to linux.I tried to install ubuntu 8.10 in my lap top.
The config: AMD turion 64x2 ,2 g Hz processor
                  2 gb ram
                   nvidia graphics
Model number is hp pavilion dv6705 au
The problem is when i put ubuntu cd in drive and restart it ,it boot into the cd and asks for various options(such as try ubuntu, install ubuntu, disk cheking etcc.....).When I select "install" option boot loader starts and stops immediately after moving a little. It never starts again untill i press any key. After this loading is completed(I mean by pressing some key some n times) installation also goes well. Then starts the real problem ,when I restart it doesn't start on its own.I have to keep on pressing any key until it starts.
So,please help me
Thanx in advance........

It seems there are some problem with your pc configuration.... reboot the pc, when grub prompt appears press ESC to show the boot menu. Now select with the arrows the first line then press 'e' and you'll see a list of commands. Edit with 'e' each line containing "quiet" and "splash" removing those words... confirm each change with enter, when all the edits had done press 'b' to boot the system.

When you see the loading stage pausing, copy the last two or three lines you see on a sheet, for each halt... then copy the lines here :)

Can you help with this problem?
