downloading stops despite full wireless connectivity

I have a wireless card (wusb54gc), whenever I try to download a program it randomly stops downloading it, under the download progress bar it says "download speed unknown". This is despite the fact that my wireless card still picks up a full signal from the router. I have already tried turning off my firewall and programs like that.

This question regards Ubuntu, not Launchpad, so I'm redirecting it to its right place.
Have you tried searching amongst Ubuntu Answers [1] and Ubuntu forums [2], to see if someone has the same issue as you?

Thanks, but I found out that it was doing that because I my wireless card is plugged into a usb 1.1, so it can't go all that fast.
