Hi

Where can I find the explanations for the keys F1 - F12 used in Ubuntu 8.04.2 (what does the key do?)? Thanks.

To see all the keyboard shortcuts try going up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Preferences - Keyboard shortcuts

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Hi Peter,

You can find a list of preconfigured shortcuts for Ubuntu at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KeyboardShortcuts

I cannot say if this is true of all standard Ubuntu installations, although I think it will be, but my F keys are used as followed when on the desktop with no applications open: F1 - launch help, F5 - refresh desktop. No other F keys seemed to be mapped to a shortcut.

This being said each applications have their own shortcuts so it is almost impossible to tell you how each application will have its shortcuts set-up. One example of this is Firefox using F11 for fullscreen.

Hope this helps you further,

Thanks
