Updated software is available

Asked by peter ratcliffe on 2017-04-21

Software listed as being available to update more often than not contains updates to languages, such as French, German, etc. I never use foreign languages so all these do is fill up the disc. Is there a way to stop them being listed? If iIclick on the tick against a language it doesn't download this time but does come up again next time.

It seems that the answer that I gave a few days ago, got lost somehow, so I am rewriting it:

You have selected more than half a dozen languages for your system.
Do you speak Bengali, German, English, French, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese? And do you really need the possibility to display screens and messages in these languages?
If not, then you should use the language settings dialogue (in system settings) to remove all unnecessary languages.

Correction to my posting: I confused zh (Chinese) and xh (Xhosa). Even more exotic for me.

Thanks for your help Manfred. Problem solved. As an old man I'm finding computer work quite difficult.
