Easy way to use graphical emoticons in eGroupWare Wiki?

Asked by Olek Wojnar

Is there an easy way to have graphical emoticon functionality in the eGroupWare Wiki? Currently, I use the insert image button and link it to a directory with emoticon images. That's a real pain in the butt though, not as much for me as for my users... :( I found this link for a plugin to Trac which seems to accomplish more or less what I'm looking for.

http://trac-hacks.org/svn/emoticonsplugin/0.9/

Is there something similar for eGroupWare? Another way of (easily) doing this in eGroupWare? Or might it be possible to adapt this (GPL) plugin for use in eGroupWare?

Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

What version of eGroupware are you using?

There could be that your settings for wiki are not using the rich-text editor (fckeditor). You could change it by the site config under the administration menu of wiki

As it seems to work for our installation (using Version 1.3.017), by default.

Unfortunately, Ubuntu is still on 1.2.106. :( Perhaps they will package 1.4 when it is released...

I _am_ using the rich-text editor. Does this mean that when Ubuntu upgrades I'll have graphical emoticon functionality integrated by default? That would be very nice!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find packages for the unstable branch? I have never seen those on Launchpad...

Because eGroupware is a php app, I decided not to use packages and installed the latest from source forge. We have had very little problems with the developer trunk, and the updates from one version to another have gone without a hitch. (I would suggest to test the upgrade procedure first!!!)

Can you help with this problem?
