Jaunty doesn't load theme after login

I have selected my theme theme Darklooks from gnome-extras.
Issue is that every time when i login i see gnome without any themes,
really horrible unthemed gnome. When i go to system->preferences->appearance i see
that Darklooks is still selected but not loaded, so i need to select some another and select back
to Darklooks to get it loaded.
2nd issue comes when i start new software example firefox, it won't use that (Darklooks) theme so if i want it to
look good also i need to go back to appearance settings and reselect my theme to get it loaded also to firefox.

Couldn't find any bug report or question about this from launchpad, i could write bugreport but have hard time to
figure out what is causing problem.

Is there existing any solution to fix this? Using Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 alpha

I'm having a similar problem that started only a couple of weeks ago. Things had been stable for almost two months prior to that.

Try this to see if we are experiencing the same problem:

When it happens, hit CTRL-ALT-Backspace. This will cause the desktop to be re-started. You'll have to log in again. In my case, the theme then loads correctly and everything works normally after that. I haven't tried your method of going to the appearance applet, which only seems to correct part of the problem. The next time it happens to me, I'll try your suggestion to see if I can reproduce the problem with firefox.

@ LEGOManiac in Jaunty ctrl+alt+backspace is disabled by default now
but the user can re enable it please read https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+question/64285

@eXlin have you updated/upgraded your Jaunty do you still have this issue...?

That didn't help with issue, and i have had this problem mutch longer.
Yes i have up-to-date jaunty 9.04, think we are in alpha6 now.
I made clean installation. I've done bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-themes-extras/+bug/342500, it seemed to be problem with theme itself.

Yea, well problem isnt only on firefox. its in whole gnome including all gtk applications.

Hi,
i have a fresh install of jaunty.
I'm experiencing a similar problem but it didn't exist when i installed jauntyi think it started after i installed Dark looks,
When i Log in the theme is not applied,
when i open the gnome-appearance-properties the theme is automatically applied,
I have enabled access to root,
even ther i have applied the same theme but it works fine there, and i dont have to reapply the theme.
There is something that i can relate to the problem: I had to change the permissions of my home directory to 644 because (i dont know how or when) somehow the permissions had changed and i was denied log in, Luckily i could login as root to change the permissions. If there is any way to reset the default regular user home directory i think the problem may be solved..
Here i'm attaching the attributes of files in the home directory and Desktop. please let me know if something not right..
