steam does not appear so i steam installed from software boutique but icon appear wasnt work saying-
Couldn't set up Steam data - please contact technical support

then i removed steam and whole packages from command and try to reinstall but it didnt worked saying...above message 1st message above...

Could try renaming the folder:

mv /home/linus/.steam /home/linus/.steam_old

Then retry

that error while upgrade steam:i386 saying half installed

Manfred Hampl (m-hampl) said : #13

... steam:i386 half installed ...

Try fully removing that package.
What do you get for

sudo dpkg --purge steam:i386
sudo apt-get install steam

linus (linuxzed) said : #14

sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq --dry-run libgfortran3:amd64
That's just a dry-run. I'm not sure what removing libgfortran3 will take with it but run that
and see. Assuming it's not going to gobble the whole system, run it again without the
--dry-run and then you can sudo apt-get install ... the packages you need back.
