Will Launchpad translations reach original sources?

Will the translations edited with Launchpad and for Ubuntu distribution reach original sources as well, so that every [instert your program of interest] user can get benefit from translations and not only Ubuntu users?

IIRC you can export the translations in a format the project itself can use.

The question is not whether upstream can go to Launchpad and download the translations here, but whether launchpad will send them to upstream. Therefore: reopened.
