How do I find my directly uploaded Hardware Test results?

Asked by Tim Rutherford

I completed the hardware test, but my computer is not online yet. I've retrieved the submission.xml file and uploaded it via https://launchpad.net/+hwdb/+submit. How do I view the results?

Wow, that was interesting. i was able to find my own tests and then i realised i have changed graphics cards a few times lately and possibly a few other things too. This computer tends to get re-arranged quite often either to help out with other peoples machines or to build it back up again.

My results appeared quite fast so i think Tim needs to redo the test. Check my results at

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Sorry, I should have added that I tried that. When I visit that URL I receive the following message:

Hardware submissions for Tim Rutherford

Tim Rutherford has posted no submissions.

Any other thoughts?

Do you type in your email address at the end?

If by "at the end" you mean at the end of the hwtest script, yes. But the hardware is not connected to net yet, so it's not going to do the upload automatically. That's why I copied the .xml file to another machine and did the manual upload. My problem is after the manual upload completes, it doesn't provide a link, and it doesn't seem to follow the same nomenclature to create the link (as the upload form requests my email address as well).

I was able to get my machine online, so I was able to upload my report. I'm not sure what this report tells me, though. I was expecting it to give me a list of my devices. Oh well, on to fixing my video issues.

It's the kind of information that M$ routinely collects off their users without bothering to ask permission first and greatly helps them work out what works and what doesn't. There are pages in linux that list hardware conflicts and stuff but they tend to rely on users volunteering the information

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SupportedArchitectures
http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw

Thanks for contributing, hopefully someone may get back to you if there are known issues but you will probably fix this faster by posting questions in here and in other Ubutnu forums and having a look around documentation and on through google searches

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

PS not sure but does this page help?
