Boot problems on jaunty, using dmraid.

Asked by Robutux

I seem to have similar problem like described here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/315735

It says it's fixed already by an updated dmraid package but I updated my installation and the problem persists. I'm able to boot manually by activating raid disks in initramfs shell by 'dmriad -ay' and then 'exit' and it will boot. But it should activate them automatically with no intervention required.

I know about that howto, that's how I got it working in a first place. But it broke after intrepid -> jaunty upgrade. It worked under intrepid.

Ok, I found out that it was booting my old (intrepid) kernel. I don't know why it did that, maybe because I had to install grub manually because of dmraid support and that confused the upgrade process.

So it's solved, thanks.

Thanks for getting back to us with the answer there, much appreciated. There have been a few people with Raid issues lately and the only guide page seriously needs updating as its very old now. Interesting that such a 'new' idea is quite old to linux ;) hehehe. My machine is way below the spec of a machine capable of Raided drives and the same for everyone else i know so i have no first-hand knowledge and i don't even know any theory so all i can do is point to this old page that anyone could rewrite if they had some idea what content needs to go in. Hint, hint lol

Thanks for helping us there
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
