You can do it with "xmodmap"...
But you will have to read a bit.

Perhaps try going up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Preferences - Keyboard

and/or

System - Preferences - Keyboard Shortcuts

Also beside each shift key is a weird key that has some odd symbols on. The right-hand-shift key has / ? beside it and the left-hand-shift has \ | between it and the z key

Tom , in my keyboard /? is on the left side of right shift key and \| is on the right side of right shift key, and no key is between left shift key and z.

Ahhh, i thought you were looking for the pipe symbol rather than a strange i For some reason my screen is almost always a bit blurry where-ever that appears (my eye sight is perfect of course lol). Now i've looked at the

link again and wonder if the difficulty is in reaching a command line? If so go up to the top taskbar and click on

Applications - Accessories - Terminal

Hopefully i'm not barking up the wrong tree again. Sorry about earlier

Again it looks like we haven't been able to help you fix this problem. Is it still a problem? Have you found a way to fix it from somewhere else? Please let us know how you fixed it, if you have also then marking this question solved would be great but if the problem still isn't fixed then maybe just re-post it again?
