why does apt pkg grub-imageboot reboot after msg "out of memory"

Asked by robert Newton

I am unable to use cdimage release iso with /boot/memdisk iso; initrd xubuntu.iso
It says 'out of Memory' and reboots.

I have efi grub2 signed grub2.02-beta3
on ubuntu 17.04 zesty amd64.

Windows used to also say out of mem but at then boot into efi.
Glad my laptops still work in unbuntu, win8, and win10.

Memtest86 is part of the default install. Just select it from GRUB. Why do you need a file to boot from when the functionality is already in your OS....

What exactly are you doing?

initrd is used by grub to load the initial ramdisk (usually named initrd.img), trying to load "initrd xubuntu.iso" with the iso file as parameter does not make sense at all.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask robert Newton for more information if necessary.
