((I feel it affected my Ubuntu 8.04))
Ubuntu dont be affected by Internet Viruses.

((i want to know in such a situation swap also get affected?))
Swap is Completely ERASED on every shutdown/restart, and all posible data in there is permanently deleted.

((is it possible to reinstall swap or not?))
Isn't needed.

A very little portion on web runs on Windows Server, and sometimes this servers can be affected by Malware or Hackers.

You can use this free software to clean up your system (delete temporal, cache, logs, etc), but is optional:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/bleachbit/bleachbit_0.3.2-1_all_ubuntu804.deb

good luck and surf safe...

I have found out that Ubuntu 9.04 do not clean swap when shutting down. This leads to many unpleasant effects, among them, some data, that persisted in a process memory last hibernation before shutting down, can be retrieved by analysing swap partition of a shutdown computer.
The post, showing a working example, hangs on Ubuntuforums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7357336#post7357336
