Sata doesn't work

Asked by nxhoaf

I'm having trouble installing Ubuntu 8.04. At the step of partitioning, the system doesn't show my SATA hard disk drive, all option there is disable, only Cancel and Back work. If I replace the SATA with an IDE one, the installation can continue and finish successfully. But after installing, the network interface doesn't work (it still work with Windows XP). My mainboard is asus p5ql. So, why it can't detect my sata when installing. And what should I do to make my network interface work?
