Reliance USB modem designed only for windows, switched to Tata Indicom modem, now its working fine

Hi Ubuntu team,
   i am using Ubuntu 8.10, Yesteday when i tried to use USB modem ( RELIANCE) i was unable to mount it.When i tried the command mode i faced some difficulties, i had the attached the file with the mail, Please suggest me a solution..

In root i tried the wvdial /etc/wvdial.config command ,
 But it showed that failed with all three baud rates, and displayed the following message.
No modem was detected, is it used by another program?
Did u configure it proprely with setserial?

Terminal"

Step 2: Run the following commands (copy-paste each line below to the Terminal then hit <enter> after each line)

sudo lshw -C network
lspci -nn
lsusb
uname -a
dmesg | grep ound
dmesg | grep illswitch
dmesg | grep usb

Step 3: Post results (cut/paste terminal output from each command) here

Step 4: Please also specify the exact model and make (version number) of the USB modem you are trying to use.

I asked the technical person, he said RELIANCE USB modem designed only for windows, So i switched to TATA INDICOM modem, now its working fine..
