Repair Installation, like in windows intallation setup

Asked by ronnie_libra

i was wondering if there is "Repair Installation" features in kubuntu like in windows installation setup? like say for example some system files were deleted\corrupted and the kubuntu won't start or prompt an error that stop the GUI or X or desktop to start.Because i usually reinstall kubuntu every time i cant solve the error or problem and i have to rearrange everything again like i have to install\download some programs.create mount points for other partition, and of course i have to backup my home directory, reformat .

thanks guys in advance!!!!
ubuntu themes please address this demand if it is still unavailable and if it is necessary...
Thank you! Linux the best!!!!

There's one " Friendly Recovery " is the name.

I suppose is present on KDE based too.
And its Aptitude to repair everything, its a GUI-like based on Text (ncurses)

Firstly and most easily available is the "Recovery Mode" one of the options given during normal bootup. It does have some useful features and unlike the Windows equivalent it doesn't just hose your system.

During install there is the option of "Manual Partitioning" rather than "Guided" and this can be used to to UNticked the "format partition?" option for each partition. This often allows data and settings to remain intact. However, it often suffers from 'user-error' so i'd always back-up the data before using this.

Keeping your data on a different partition is quite a smart move - so it doesn't always get wiped during an install

Good luck and regards from
