Problem with Ubuntu 8.10

Asked by TeeJay007

I've recently installed Ubuntu 8.10 alongside Windows XP Home on my laptop. Everything was great until I downloaded and installed the latest Linux/Ubuntu updates and restarted my Laptop. I now find that whenever I start Ubuntu up, an "Unlock Keyring" box appears and asks me for my Password - it doesn't matter what I put in, it just keeps reappearing and, as far as I'm aware, I haven't set a "Keyring" password. To make matters worse I was then unable to access the internet. After many attempts I've discovered that if I hit the "deny" button twice in the "Unlock Keyring" box, enter the appropriate password in the "Wireless Network Authentication Required" box which then appears and then hit the "deny" button for the third time in the "Unlock Keyring", I can then access the internet via Ubuntu! If anyone can enlighten me as to the remedy for this predicament I will remain eternally grateful!

Press alt-f2 then copy into the command box that appears:

rm ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring

Click Run. That should be it. You should be queried for a new password next time round.
