Unable to install Ubuntu 8.10 on MS Virtual PC 2007.

Asked by Elvez

I've followed a step by step install provided by: arcanecode (http://arcanecode.wordpress.com/2008/11/10/installing-ubuntu-810-under-microsoft-virtual-pc-2007/#comment-26433).

When I get to the first install screen, I select safe graphics mode and enter i8042.noloop on the options line. I then select "Try Ubuntu without any changes to your compute" and get this:

text_poke_early+0x52/0x70
apply_paravirt+0xb8/0xe0
? text_poke_early+0x48/0x70
.
.
.
__init_begin+0x9e/0xa9
======================
---[end trace 4eaa2a86a8e2da22 ]---

Tried different menu install options, tried from a CD (rather than the Unbutu desktop.iso file on host OS desktop).

The results are always the same.

Help please.

Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Besides installing VirtualBox... are there any other suggestions on getting around this?

After hearing that I should try Sun's Virtual Box, I installed it.

Sure enough, I was able to install Unbutu on it with no problmes (in addition to another xp box).
