i can't delete a file in the desktop. it said i have no root permission. what to do?

I ca not delete a file in the desktop. it said i have no root permission. I tried nautilus but the file could not be seen. if i use sudo, what will be the path? please help me

Hi,
Please, can you open a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and execute the following command:
 gksu nautilus
You'll be asked for a password, give yours (the one you use to log in)
Then a windows with root right will appear, go whereever you want and delete the file.

Hi again
The path for your desktop is /home/username/Desktop
Use your real user name instead the word username

And finally the word Desktop may change if you use a non-english Ubuntu.
