Ubuntu 8.10 no quiere instalar

Cuando la pc butea "boot" con ubuntu 8.10 para instalarlo en mi laptop que es una " Lenovo IdeaPad U330 Intel Core 2 processor P7350 2Ghz, ATI Radeon HD 3450 256MB, 250GB 5400" me sale un mesaje en una pantalla negra que dice asi:

Que hago para instalar Ubuntu? Nunca me habia salido este mensaje en PC anteriores.

Hola,
Te aparece el primer menú?, Puedes escoger "Probar Ubuntu..." y ver si inicia el LiveCD?

Ariel si aparece el primer menu y veo cuando se inicia el live cd.

No creo Ariel, estoy tratando de isntalar Ubuntu 8.10 y butea normalmente, cuando sale para escojer el idioma escojo "english" porque es al que estoy acostumbrado y ya luego es que sale la pantalla negra que habia explicado mas arriba.

1)) Check CD for defects

2)) en el menu de booteo apretar (por la parte donde elejis el idioma) F6

en el renglon de texto que se abre, busca y reemplaza " quiet splash " con
nolapic noapic noapm debug

Hice eso que me escribiste y buteo pero falló y volvió a salir la pantalla negra. Yo he usado siempre ubuntu y es la primera vez que esto me sucede. He hecho todas las pruebas al cd de isntalacion y todas pasaron.
