Installation issue

Asked by cargirl

I am currently operating Windows XP Professional on my Dell Dimension 8300 Series. I downloaded ubuntu and proceeded with the "install inside Windows" option. I followed the instructions and rebooted with the CD in the tray. I booted into ubuntu and things were going well. Things seemed to be moving along, then I got stalled here:

There was no activity in the CD tray, so I tried popping out the CD and seeing if I was prompted to put it back in, but nothing happened. I put it back in anyway, and still nothing happened. I rebooted, and still nothing happened. So, I booted into Windows and cleared up some more HDD space by deleting some large photo files and running defrag. I restarted and booted back into ubuntu with the same issue. What am I doing wrong?

A proper dual-boot is much better, it's also easier to uninstall. The Wubi combines the worst of both OS's but this dual-boot allows each to stand independently making a robust and flexible system.
