noob at ubuntu NEED QUICK HELP

ok i downloaded ubuntu and it was 700mb or around now its finished downloading and its called ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso but when i get into it its a rar file so if i gotta put on cd how im also using a xp so im trying to do the fusion things so u choose when you turn on computer if you would like to run windows or linux kinda thing so if some one can help me understand that would be helpful post the answer here or talk to me on msn <email address hidden>
