ubuntu 8.10 skype and other audio programs block each other

On 8.10 i can listen to music and talk on skype at the same time.
If I try to call or receive a call I get problem with audio playback untill i close the other audio application.
I have this problem with:
vlc player
winamp trough wine
rythmbox
Any suggestions?
