Tab?
if you are running on battery will appear an battery icon on Gnome Tray area.
To more options and configurations, go to System--->Preferences--->Power Managment

On the power management Preferences the tab for " On Battery" is missing.

I do however have the battery icon on the top panel

Try going up to the top taskbar and click on

System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager

it asks for your user password, not your SuperUser/Root one. Using the "Search" button search for "Power management" or something like that. The search tools look in descriptions as well as titles. In the list it brought up for me i found "apmd" which looks like the most likely package you need, it's worth scouting around the others though. Oh to install a package just right-click and choose "install". Packages that you already have are marked with a green box.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Somehow It came after rebooted . I took your advice (question60331) and Installed Ubuuntu on a separate ext3 partition and now I have two questions for you,
1, why is it that e very time I when boot to windows , windows run chdsk .
2. When I had Ubuntu through Wubi when booting I had two options Vista and Ubuntu and now I have six . Is there a why to make it to two windows or ubuntu.

Thanks

If you are still having trouble with this then please post it as a new question. Only the most recent questions tend to get looked at so posting/reposting a question just before america arrives online after work/school gives the best chance of getting a good few answers.

Hi Tom
I still have these problems and I can live with it for now ... I thought that the best time to ask question is when you are at the internet cafe .
